It wasn’t their plan to get married on 4th of July – this wedding was supposed to be back on May 2nd, but COVID-19 lockdown to avoid spreading the virus put a damper on that. Missy and Matthew also had to do a last minute venue change, but they did it, they got it done, and they are married!
The weather was hot, hot, hot for Pittsburgh (in the 90’s) but no rain, so hey, we’ll take it! Gosh, this summer feels like the hottest summer on record! Despite this hot soup weather, this gorgeous summer wedding started with the ladies at First Free Evangelical Church getting ready – and we did photos of the men and ladies separately right across the street at the park.
Missy’s dress was perfect for summer – a beaded top and very light and flowy skirt – I just loved this beautiful look!
The ceremony wasn’t your basic “boring” ceremony- it was very moving and Missy even surprised Matthew by singing a song during the service. At the end of the wedding, they shared a kiss as fireworks appeared on the screen – they were so happy to make it official.
After the ceremony, we made a few photo stops (including the park where the greenery just looked gorgeous), and then it was on to Antonelli Event Center where people dined and danced all night! The cake from Patty’s was unique – it was a cutaway view and Missy knew she wanted that cake as soon as she saw it. I actually had 2.5 pieces over the weekend – it was that good!
Weddings this year are looking a bit different and I often wonder what weddings were like during the Spanish Flu back one hundred years ago – I love seeing those photos of people wearing their masks and standing in front of their home – this time is one for the history books with the coronavirus and it was so nice to have joy and fun and celebrate again! Take that, the Ronas!
Missy and Matt headed to their new home together – their honeymoon got cancelled and will be at a later date (perhaps Greece – Europe isn’t going anywhere!) and we’re so happy for them and their new beginning!
Note to the couple:
Missy and Matthew, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! It was a pleasure to work with the two of you! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
