Kelsey and Kyle are our third set of “alliteration” names this spring. We had Nicolle and Nathan, then Casey and Chris, and now Kelsey and Kyle, all in one month! The weather was hot hot hot for early June (40 degrees higher than the week before) and sunny – we even got some sunburns during their ceremony! But the warm weather worked perfectly for their colors and their ceremony under the pergola.

I love that Kelsey embraced the warm weather and asked for her first look to be outside rather than hiding out in the air conditioning (but we did have plenty of A/C breaks for them to recover). One thing I loved about the day was the openness to feelings Kelsey and Kyle had. There was tears and laughter and the whole dynamic range. After the first look, we took a very quick drive to a fun secret garden to get some photos, then back for the ceremony. Burton – their sweet dog – made an appearance in the wedding and the photos – he was so well behaved!

Kelsey is the third daughter to get married in her family (as her mom and dad said as they entered the reception “We’re done!”) and I loved some of the little anecdotes shared during the speeches. First, dad had Kelsey come down during his toast and cut up the credit card he gives to his girls as single ladies – since she’s married now! Kyle’s best men shared some stories about how kind he is that brought tears to my eyes – and I go to a lot of weddings, so it takes work to make me tear up!

Then Kelsey’s sister shared how she was the matchmaker and put the two of them together – by volunteering Kelsey to run on Kyle’s marathon relay team. They held their rehearsal dinner where they held their first date a few years ago to bring it all full circle. I would describe Kelsey and Kyle as kind hearts with incredibly sweet spirits – we were honored to witness the first day of marriage for this couple.
