When listening to the speeches at their wedding, I heard that Katherine’s dad calls the bride and groom “Kevan” – you know, the way we call celebrity couples Brangelina or Kimye (and that’s likely the only time Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will EVER be mentioned on this blog).

It’s May in Pittsburgh, so you know the weather is going to get a mention here – we had it all. Rain, a little hail, windy, chilly, sunny. Just a typical Pittsburgh day!

These two met on a blind date and they’re both dentists. Their favor was a little chocolate tooth from Sarris Candy (I should have snagged one) – I love the sweet little joke of a pair of dentists giving out a sugary treat! I’ve had a pair of eye doctors get married, I’ve had a pair of pharmacists get married, and now we had a pair of dentists!

Evan gave Katherine a pretty pair of earrings and Katherine gave Evan some beautiful Cartier cufflinks. Little details included the bride’s grandma’s blue fabric pinned in her dress, the groom’s grandfather’s engraved pocketwatch, the custom masks, the embroidery in the groom’s jacket, and a really nice floral arch with bright florals that set the tone for the entire day.

It was windy on the roof and during the ceremony, I really liked the natural moment of Katherine and Evan trying hard to get that unity candle lit – I think it took 3 tries and the groomsmen crowding around the flame to get it done. Teamwork makes the dream work.

For their photos, we wanted to really pull in some of the eclectic and funky Hotel Monaco vibes – from the bright pop of floral to the cool couches and yellow doors in the space to the posing – it was such a treat and so fun to get creative because this couple was so easygoing! The dance floor was packed at 11pm when the lights finally came up and the newlyweds headed off to Key West!
