Katelyn and Kevin had their ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Downtown Pittsburgh. Katelyn and her bridesmaids got ready in a hotel room while Kevin and his groomsmen got ready in a hospitality suite – the Vue room.

Katelyn had a few sentimental items incorporated into her day. She wore one of her mother’s rings. It was the first piece of jewelry her dad had ever given her mom. Her mom actually made the ringbearer pillow. She used material from her own wedding dress and Katelyn’s communion dress. Katlelyn also had matching hankies made for her, her mom and her sister, the maid of honor.

Katelyn had two pairs of shoes – blue suede Michael Kors heels and sparkly Kate Spade Keds for the reception. She also had the cutest denim jacket that said bride on the back that she had been wearing to different events leading up to the wedding!

The couple opted to do a first look – which we highly recommend here at KWP. They got all of their bridal portraits out of the way so after the ceremony all they had to do was party! Mellon Green Parklet was all in bloom and looked amazing. The fountain was back on – the wind was a little wild like it normally is in late April, but we got so many fun shots outdoors regardless! (Note – wind can be really annoying if you are wearing a veil! Just keep that in mind! We went back out for more photos later after Kaitlyn’s veil was removed!)

The ceremony was held in the Philadelphia Room at the DoubleTree. The altar, draped with fabric and floral, was then used over their sweetheart table at the reception.

Upon intros into the reception, Katelyn and Kevin cut the cake, had their first dance and danced with their parents. The dance floor opened right after the meal and the couple was on the packed dance floor most of the night except when we were able to sneak them up onto the rooftop during sunset for a few quick photos.

Towards the end of the reception, late night food was brought out – something that seems to be coming more and more popular! Another special touch was their custom Snapchat filter that the couple created!
