Francesca and Robert first met at karaoke night at a country bar on the North Shore and they’ve been together almost five years already, some of that long distance where they really racked up the miles! They got married on a beautiful October Friday – sunny and seventy degrees.
Their original plan was Heinz Chapel and Soldiers and Sailors, but they made a pivot due to pandemic restrictions and instead selected the George Washington Hotel in downtown Washington for their event.
I was keeping in mind their original look of Oakland for photos when selecting photo spots for them. Oakland has walkways and a college campus, so we did their portraits over at Washington and Jefferson College, just one to two blocks from their hotel. Speaking of hotel, the ladies and men got ready there separately and spent all day there, with the ceremony in the Washington Room and the reception in the ballroom.
Their color palette was black, ivory, gold, and touches of light pink. Francesca’s gown was beautiful with the sleeves and we took care to keep them nice as they were fragile! We kept the emphasis on classic and traditional style portraits and Francesca pulled out all the stops with a champagne pop, bubble guns, sunglasses for the wedding party, and confetti!
The décor was truly stunning with candles and floral all around – there was such an elegant look to the day. Some of my favorite elements of this wedding include a first look (but done “down the aisle”), the dry ice cloud dancing provided by the DJ, and the live painter. This was truly a memorable event for guests and there were so many unique elements!
These two love The Office (Robert wore The Office socks for the wedding day) and they pantomimed the little “mental snapshots” from Jim and Pam’s wedding episode throughout the day.
Note to the couple: Francesca and Rob, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! We thank you for choosing Kristen Wynn Photography and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness always. Congratulations!
